Selected Indicators

Mosaic Grand Index

This provides the data which underlies the Mosaic classification of households, and shows the predicted propensity of a characteristic within an area.

When you look at the maps shown on this page, the higher the number, the more likely it is that households within that area have the characteristic being displayed (these areas are shown in red on the maps, whilst areas of low propensity are shown in blue).

Data is available on a wide range of indicators, but the broad categories available are demographics, education, engagement and communications, finances, home lives, perspectives, property, work lives, health, and Mosaic origins. When you query the data, the ‘net score’ of an area is returned – this is the number of postcodes within that area that are significantly higher than the national average, minus the number that are significantly lower.
