Headline Summary
Headline Summary NI 5 (overall satisfaction) has seen an improvement since the last Local Govt. User Satisfaction Survey in 2006/07. Overall, 62% of respondents are satisfied with their local area (compared with 60% in 2006/07).
* key groups who are more likely to be dissatisfied include younger adults, BME groups, and those in West Bromwich and Smethwick.
Despite the improvement, Sandwell ranks third worst out of all Metropolitan (Mets) and London Boroughs on this indicator.
Residents were also asked about satisfaction with their home as a place to live. The majority (82%) are satisfied with their home, with just one in ten (nine per cent) dissatisfied.
NI 138 combines the satisfaction scores of residents aged over 65 with the local area and with their home. Generally, older residents tend to be more positive than their younger counterparts, and this is true in Sandwell. Satisfaction with the home
increases to 90% for over 65s (from an average of 82%) and satisfaction with the area increases to 76% (from 62% overall). This provides an overall NI score on this measure of 72%.
Further information is available on the Place Survey topic page.
